Heavy pack ice jams the coast of Labrador north of the island of Newfoundland. The heavy ice, which can be up to 100 km thick shuts down shipping and disrupts fishing operations around the Newfoundland and Labrador.The ice flows south from Baffin Bay on the Labrador current.
