Petty Harbour, Newfoundland – The 2025 Canadian federal election is on and I’m back on the campaign trail once again shooting for Reuters.

That’s me out in the rain, totally out of position behind Conservative Party leader and wannabe Prime Minister, Pierre Poilievre. Thanks to Keith Gosse, Long time friend and fellow news photographer from The Telegram.

I have been covering provincial, national and international elections since the 80s. They used to be fun. I used to love elections. The buzz, the travel, The Pack, the polling… all of it.  Not so much now. Now the political parties are all about controlling the media to the point of threatening reporters and photographers if they don’t stand where they are told and to enter and leave when they are told. Doesn’t make for a good relationship in any situation. That gets tired pretty fast.

For a behind the scenes look at the anatomy of a Conservative Party campaign stop in Petty Harbour check out my story on Canadian Journalist. You will see why its not much fun anymore. Like working in a hostile territory.
