Election Postcards from the Globe and Mail

Election Postcards from the Globe and Mail

We are into the last week of the election and the Globe and Mail is doing “Election Post Card” stories east to west across Canada. I was assigned to a Konrad Yakabuski story for St John’s. Its a look at life and election issues in a specific riding so greetings from St John’s East. I focuses on the life in the historic downtown and around the harbour. A busy port with offshore oil supply ships and crab fishermen You can read it here called Crude Awakening.

A pleasure working with editors Randy Velocci …as always, and Natasha Hassan.

Designing or “lay out” for web site is not easy. For a big news site like the Globe and Mail or CBC an editor or designer is locked in pretty tight to the template before them,. It can make for pretty dull page. Traditional print was the place to shine for layout people and always look better than web. But on this story the use of the photos stretched the boundaries and, for once, looked better than the print version of this story.

The Photographers thank you!
